This weekend the fam and I headed out to spend the weekend at Cape Cod, a dear friend and ex - regular riding buddy moved out there a little over a year ago, so we went for my birthday & weekend visit. I told my bud that tradition demands a ride equal to or greater in miles than years under the belt so Sat AM we were off for a 60 mile ride around Cape Cod (I turned 54). Unfortunately I forgot to pack the camera for this trip.
We started in Falmouth, my friends house is settled on an inland pond and about 1/2 mile from the beach - an idyllic setting. Everything from his work to the local shops can be walked or biked to. We traveled north across the Cape to the north end and then took the bike path south along the canal under the Sagamore and Bourne bridges all the way to Woods Hole and then around and back to Falmouth. What a nice ride. Flat and fast. Although when on the roads I was not impressed by the narrow roads, lack of shoulders as well as the closeness cars tended to pass.
When we got back it was a short clean up and walk to the beach where my daughter swam and I sat like a bump on a log. Then dinner - a $9.95 lobster dinner (yes - a good sized crustacean nicely steamed for $9.95!), a bottle of wine and a wonderful slice of blueberry pie for desert. It just doesn't get any better.
