Bicycle Mechanics - The Mysterious Spring

I really need your help, guys. I am a total newbie when it comes to biking and I just bought a bike (Marin Larkspur) over the weekend. Well, I took it out to go around the block earlier today and everything seemed fine. However, I just noticed that my cat was playing with something that looked like it belongs on my bike. I can't quite figure out where it belongs, but then again I know next to nothing about bikes. Can you help me out?

That looks like nothing that belongs on a bike.

A few minutes after I posted I asked a friend about it and he said that it looked more like it could have come from the chair that I was sitting in (it reclines) & sure enough.....

That looks like something you would use to drag your cat behind your bike....

Looks a bit like the return spring for certain kickstands though...

Ask your cat:D

If it is from your bike, as dabac says, it's from the kickstand.

This bike didn't come with a kickstand (at least, I haven't found a kickstand, yet...)

Not off a bike.

Looks like a spring from a bed frame to me.

If you're popping springs on the recliner you really need to get out on the bike.
