Well I used to race. You will have to get your NBL license when the season starts. Make sure when the season starts your bike is up to par with tech inspection. I would lower your seat all the way and flip your headset upside down. Make the bike as low as can. Make your handle bars short also. Practice all the time if you can. Dont know how old you are? I used to be at the local track all the time.. Before I started driving (when I got old enough) and then working Full time :( I always go to the track and bang around but am nowhere near what I used to be. Anyways the Track in my area sucks now. Way to jumpy not a good speed track anymore...

another thing that is great for practice is parking lot sprints, go 50 yards giving it your all, ride back slowly, do it again, repeat about 15 times, take a half an hour break or so to cruise around, do it again, it actually helps believe it or not

thats what im about to do. i also think you should put like 4 pegs on your bike while your "training" to make it heavier so that when you take em off, itll feel lighter and youll get a better workout. hey, thats smart, huh? :)

you could also train in a higher gear (47:16 with a race ratio of 44:16) to build strength

Your bike won't pass tech inspection with no brakes. You don't have to have a front brake, but you must have a rear.

Hey i realize you wrote this like forever ago and probley wont read this but oh well...when i started racing the first thing i did was research aba and nbl because they are very different there are more aba tracks in the states and the gates are set up differently.a good site to go to if you havent already is www.ababmx.com and find a track near you then go to a practice watch and see what happens from there.

 i started on a big gear and ive never been able to go below 42:15 because of it or im choppy and most of the pros i know have smaller gears than me, but they say if your a chic its easier to have a larger gear....what r ur thoughts???

my thoughts, spend time on a set of rollers and learn to spin, best advice I can give you

rolers are not the best for bmx, personaly try srinting long hills, it will build up a better cardio set for when you race.
