The guy in the video was jaywalking when a car ran a red light and hit an oncoming car, the oncoming car rolled and hit the jaywalker. Amazingly the damage received by the crash created a dent in the oncoming car which allowed the car to roll over the guy without completely crushing him. No the guy was not on a bike, but I hear so many people talk about how the speed through lights and what not I thought it was still worth posting.

It looked to me like the crosswalk may have turned red after he started crossing.

both drivers escaped with only minor injuries.
Dam it!

I hope the insurance companies screw both of them over and only pony up a quarter of what the cars are worth. And that old hag in the PT should have her license snagged permanently.

The guy lived because the car that rolled over him had a huge dent in the side caused by the car that ran the light. He just happened to be under the dent when the car rolled over him.

I don't know what this has to do with Jay walking. He was not jay walking but crossing the street using the crosswalks. Jay walking is crossing in the middle of the street.

Furthermore, the walker may have been wrong if he did not have the light but we cannot determine if the light on the opposite side was green to go straight. The light may have been green to turn left or right. As for the car that ran the red light, he was totally at fault and NOT the walker.

... As for the car that ran the red light, he[sic] was totally at fault and NOT the walker. True. This is NOT a case of contributory negligence on the part of the pedestrian, who, after all, had reached the curb at the time of the crash. Anyone LEGALLY standing on that corner would have been a potential victim.

Looking at the film several times, I noticed the walker actually started to run the second of the accident. Unfortunately, he never made it clear and was swept away.

(From Merriam-Webster)
Jaywalking: to cross a street carelessly or in an illegal manner so as to be endangered by traffic.

If you read the story it would have been clear to you that at the time of the accident the crosswalk signal was red, and therefore Tegtmeyer (the pedestrian) should not have been crossing the street and therefore was indeed jaywalking.

Thanks, but next time you try to correct somebody make sure you know what the hell you are talking about first.
