Foo - Like putting a sharp stick in your eye - daily

As someone who is very nearsighted, vain, and has worn prescription contact lenses since age 12 - first hard, and later soft lenses as the technology has improved - I find it appalling that you'd risk your eyesight in this manner... BTW, I don't sleep in my contacts, and if they're ever uncomfortable at any time, I immediately pull them out...

As someone that has had perfect vision all my life and still do at 43...I have no idea what you're talking about.

I thought of cosmetic FX contacts even though my vision is good. However, I see people getting sand in their eyes, and getting scratches on their cornea.

The look is great, but the thought of possible permanent eye damage made me decide to pass on appearance contacts. However, I do think some sclera contacts do look really cool.

I am really into asian culture, I love the fashion ect. and have taken to circle lens. I am probably the most unvain person in the world, but I think it is fun to look different, having crazy cartoon/anime eyes is appealing to me.
I have a few pair of circle lens and they feel just like any other contact lens. What ALOT of people dont know is many 'American' contact lens brands are manufactured in ASIA. My favorite brand is GEO which is a highly respected brand from korea. There are tons of bootlegs though, and some girls are silly enough to risk their vision to save a couple bucks....I agree that is silly. Circle lens are cheap anyway, for trusted brand name, you can get them for about $12.00 per lens, they last 6 months to 1 year. Disclaimer- I am SMART when wearing my lens, I wear them 4 hours, 8 max. I throw them away after 6 months, and I dont wear them everyday. I always have contact lens drops, lens case and my eyeglasses with me just in case I ever feel the need to remove them while out.
The whole ulzzang thing is a silly trend, they photoshop the hell out of the pics and somehow these girls still swoon over the ulzzang 'idols'.:rolleyes: I have to admit about 85% of circle lens users, especially girls from the USA, are just trending and aspire to one day wake up asian.

I just ask you please, dont knock it or stereo type people who wear circle lens, some of us are smart, and wear them for fun! ;)

I wear circle lenses too, but not the big above 14.2 and above kind--the regular 14mm kind, which is exactly the same size as other contact lenses (yes, same diameter and base curve). They do make your eyes look bigger, even if the pupil diameter is regular sized. It just gives you a very anime-like look.

Like iltb's daughter, I use GEO brand, and also G&G and EOS lenses. They are reasonably priced, trusted brands in Asia, and the EOS lenses in particular are as comfortable and breathable as my Acuvue Oasys ones. My green EOS lenses feel way more comfortable than the green prescription lenses my doc prescribed for me; I don't even feel like they're there and I have to remind myself to take them out after 6hrs because I forget I'm wearing them. As long as you use circle lenses properly--not leaving them in too long, doing the proper care, taking them out as soon as they feel uncomfortable etc.--they are as safe as other contacts.

I don't get it, either -- the whole contact thing.

Tried 'em a couple years ago -- a half-hour of burning eyes, followed by substandard vision -- no thanks. I'll stick with four-eyes, thank you. Heck, until I get my new ones next year -- bifocals, OMG! -- there will be times I'll be a six-eyes! (reading glasses over the regular ones, so I can read my books!)

The only time I ride contact lenses is when I bike. Reason being that I can then wear a pair of safety glasses which allow me to attach a rear view mirror to. The arms of my regular prescription glasses are too thick/fragile.

I'm reminded of the day I got my first contacts (age 33 or so). The optometrist's assistant escorted me into the exam room to wait for the doctor to arrive. It was a pretty long wait--15 minutes or so--and the room was plastered with posters showing eye infections, damaged corneas, etc. from not caring for contacts properly. Finally the doctor arrived. As she walked in she said, "So, ready for contacts?" I replied, "I was...until I saw all of these!"

I wore oversized whole eye Chrome contacts for a picture once.

Looked a bit like this....and came out kind of creepy.

As someone with astigmatism and about 20/6000 vision I'd be offended if that wasn't so damn funny.
