Technically, it is a Pontiac. So Toyota (convenient to me) refused to fix it. GM, of course, has offered.

Once you're finished getting your gas pedal fixed, you may as well leave the car at the dealership for a while (http://www.businessweek.com/news/2010-07-01/toyota-says-valve-springs-may-cause-lexus-engine-flaw.html).

Luckily, neither of mine has that issue. I got the notice this morning, which is what reminded me of the gas pedal recall. :p

Last Toyota(Tercel) we had lasted 20 years and we gave it to a needy family.

By the end of the year, even with the media-blitz against Toyota, GM will still have more recalled autos with more problems. Personally I recommend staying clear of the whole lot and buy European-made autos (except for BMW).

The Volt looks cool, but I want to wait 1-2 model years to see how it fares in day to day driving. Other than that, if I have the cash, maybe a Camaro or Corvette for old time's sake.

I'd like the ZR-1 'vette with the motor designed by Lotus and built by Mercury Marine... When I did the Open Track Challenge in 2002, there was a guy with one that had a twin-turbo conversion! :)

Yeah - something reliable, like a VW. :rolleyes:Actually, I was thinking of MB. The 190E and '84 Supra were the only cars I had that lasted over 10-years and 250k-miles. Apart from maintenance items like oil, coolant, brake-pads, timing-belts, the only repair I had to do during that entire time on the Supra was to replace the alternator. Nothing else I've had or anyone I know have ever had did as well. To be fair to BMW, I did have the ultimate performance package where they wrung every last bit of power out of the engine. The same engine in the M-Coupe was detuned slightly and had much, much better reliability. But 3 engine-swaps in one year was a little too much for me.

Once they moved production to Mexico VW was plagued with problems and lost @60% of their customers.
Sad way for a former reliable company to end up.
