Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Greetings-

With some help from the Classic and Vintage forum I have established that I have in my possession a Gianni Motta road bike from either '84 or '85. I've had it in storage for about ten years, and I feel that it is best to pass it along to someone who might give it a little sunshine. I would love to have an informed opinion of what a fair asking price would be.

Here are some pics of the bike:

The seat tube measures about 58.5 cm from the center of the crank to the top. The top tube is about 57.75 cm from center-to-center.

All components are Campagnolo. Pedals and brakes are marked G.S. or Gran Sport. I believe that all are Super Record with the exception of the rear derailleur, which is a 980.

The chrome is in reasonably good shape, but there are a few nicks on the frame, and a bit of rust is starting to form on a section of the top tube, and work itself under the paint (see pic). Examination with a magnifying glass shows that the rust is only on the surface, but the frame will probably need to be stripped and repainted to look truly beautiful again.

I'm really fairly ignorant about vintage rides, so if I need to add any more information or snap more pics, please let me know.

Thanks for any help or insight.

EDIT: I should add that I believe the model is a Personal 2001 and the cable routing is internal.
