I did about 30 today at lunchtime, and as with every ride I've done lately over 5 miles I had sweat pouring into my right eye. Can I get some good recommendations for products to keep sweat out of my eyes while riding with a helmet? Thanks in advance.

"Sweat GUTR" (www.sweatgutr.com/ (http://www.sweatgutr.com/)) is marketed pretty heavily around here... I have one I've used teh past couple of years that has worked well for training & utility rides in the dog days of summer here.

I use Halo skull caps:

works for me.

I wear a baseball hat. Used to wear a bandana but need the visor on the hat.

Many online retailers sell moisture-wicking headwraps -- Performance, CRC, et al. Prices and styles may vary.

Besides wearing mine (called a "Buff" from CRC) for riding, I wear it when I'm working on the bikes; for some reason, even though it's not physically intense, my concentration on what I'm doing makes me drip sweat. The Buff stops that. Sucks it right up, and evaps at warp speed.

Keep it simple and cheap - $1 bandana/handkerchief thingy from Wal-Mart - fold it to a 1 1/2" width and tie it around your head.

I had purchased this headband from PricePoint to keep my ears warm in the winter; turns out it makes a great sweat band also. They just redesigned it with a cutout in the back for ponytails, which apparently called for an extra two dollars, but it's the same material. They go on sale every few months, so you should be able to get it for about five bucks.

I used to do that, and it kept the sweat out of my eyes, but it doesn't breath and gets too hot for me.

I have a handkerchief one of 6 I bought at Walmart for $2. Also has some other fascinating uses. Can be washed and re-used.

Halo skull cap works great for me! I have no hair, and Halo seams to never fill up with sweat, and I have had the same one for over a year and it's like new! Well worth the $20 bucks!

I also use a Halo headband right under my helmet and I've been very happy with it. It's a must for me because I wear glasses and sweat would transfer from my eyebrows to my glasses without the headband.

+1 on Sweat Gutr. My LBS sold me on at least trying it although I was skeptical but it really works great.

I have the same problem, the sweat pours down, stings your eyes, then you can't see. It's dangerous. In the heat of the summer a never leave the house with out a sweatband.
This is one of a few I have but it's probably my fav, it's very thin under the helmet, breathable, does the job well.

A cotton triangular bandage (as found in first aid kits) is perfect folded as a head band, or worn as a bandana.
You may need to zig-zag sew the sides to stop fraying.

Headsweats. They also keep your head from getting sunburned if you are losing hair on top.

Bandana. Cheap, easy, effective. Never noticed them getting too hot, even when it is 105 out.

+1 Others headbands won't cut it for me. Even on a cool day, I'll soak anything in less than 10 miles then the sweat starts running into my eyes. With the Halo, it just pours down the side of my face and stays out of my eyes.

+1 for Headsweats. A bandana doesn't wick away moisture fast enough, and gets saturated too fast for me. The Headsweats do rag looking cap works great, and doesn't make my head hot, and I sweat a LOT from my shaved head.

Walz Caps

+1

I used to wear a baseball cap under my helmet, but the rivet was uncomfortable. I have a wicking material Walz Cap and it's great! Keeps the sweat out of my face and I don't have helmet head if I need to go into a store during the ride.

got a Halo cap from REI yesterday, fits under my helmet and really works. The little rubber dam thing, who'd thunk?

Gratzie...I have to stop by REI later this week anyway...I'll be picking one up for sure.

I know this is off topic, but I just want to say I had a problem with a product and REI went above and beyond to rectify. Great customer service...responsive...can't recommend enough.
