Holy Moley! I needed to come back to work for some rest! I did a short 4th of July Holiday, and had a heck of a good time! I spent the holiday up on Lake Wawasee in Northern Indiana, about a 2 hour drive from here in Boiler Country. It was a great time, but exhausting. I also have a heck of a sunburn, with a complete "Reverse Raccoon" look from my sunglasses.

For our 4th of July feast, we had ribs, done by our family friend, Jeff (Last name withheld), and smoked Pork Sirloins by me.

Even my niece, who "doesn't eat pork", loved them. I even tempted a Vegan to eat meat for the day with the aroma.:D

The trike rack I built to carry my wife's recumbent worked really well, too! Very stable, and it looked pretty cool, too!

I spent a couple of days racing with the Wawasee Yatch Club, and the wind was spectacular. I was crewing an E Scow for my neighbor, Ken.

We placed 3rd, even after dumping the boat in a very heavy wind gust.

I came close to dumping my I Boat, too......as close as you can get, actually. I was blown over so far I was planing the boom on the water when I tried to release the sheet and everyone was hiked way out over the windward side trying to keep the boat from going over.

As usual, I was wrong.

The pic on page 1 even shows why if you think about all that bottom being wet, you can see why 10 -15 degrees of heel is needed.

Glad you are back at work and relaxing.

Flat is only fastest on a broad reach, flying the spinnaker. ;) The way a modern E or I Scow is rigged, the spinnaker lifts the bow and planes the boat. Nice thing about a modern rig.....no death rolls! The 5th, I was out in the I Boat in 15-30 knot winds, and a 30 knot gust is truly scary in an I Boat, I can assure you. It blew me over into a 77 degree heel, according to my onboard inclinometer. That was why the boom planed. :twitchy:
