Falcon - Ernie Clemente
I picked up this bike at an estate sale for 10 bucks. I've never heard of this bike. Anybody out there heard of it? Pics...

British-made. I have a friend who rides one on RAGBRAI. I saw two others on this year's ride. One of them had the builder's name on the head tube; I can't remember if it was Clemente.

I bought a Falcon in 1971 and still have it. I use it several times a year for fun. This bike was a very light weight high quality racing bike at the time I bought it. I have kept it in good shape after I retrieved from my parents garage a few years ago. The compnents are full campagnola and still perform admirably. I can't seem to let go of it.

It's Ernie Clements, with a "s" on the end. He was an English frame builder who built frames under his own name in the 1950s. And by the 1970s owned a small factory turning out bikes under the Falcon name. They were a good produdion bike and there were quite a large number of them exported to the US in the seventies.

Wow, what a tall dude who owned that thing. What's the sppeedo? Is it by any chance Schwinn or Schwinn approved? If it is and you want to sell it let me know.

Has anyone ever heard of a Falcon 531 Ernie Clements with an aluminum frame? My husband bought it second hand around 1971 and is now a senior citizen who needs a different bike to ride that will not bother his back so much. We are thinking of selling it but have no idea what the value of this is. Eventually we will get photos of it to post here.

It is common for people to think that their lightweight bike is aluminum but Reynolds 531 is chromoly steel. If you can post some pictures and a list of components we can give you a ball park figure.
