I have decided after 25+ years to break down and buy me a road bike, so i came here looking for advice :)

I will be 40 years old next week so I am thinking I will buy me a road bike, something under 500.00 and entry level anyone have a suggestion ?

we have hundreds of miles of bike paths near my home and look forward to enjoying them

New entry road bikes start at about $700.
They ride nice and fast and have full warranty's
You can buy used from Craiglist, but no warranty and help with fitting to the bike.

For $500 your best bet is either craigslist (if you know your bike size) or Bikesdirect. Let us know what you get.
