Touring - touring saddle

I am considering a Brooks saddle for my touring bike. Any suggestions on a particular model or are there better saddles out there?

hey lund, this topic has come up here before, i have the b-17 standard and the b-17 special brg. when i first received them i was very reluctant because they were as hard as concrete, however after 300 miles on the standard and 400 on the brg they fit like a fine pair of leather shoes. you HAVE to break them in, i wouldn't tour on anything else. wallbike.com has a return policy, that if u don't like u can return for a full refund, and i believe this is for 30 days, u really can't go wrong to try. i weigh 190 lbs, if u weigh less it might take a little longer to break-in. wallingford bike has a great web site, also u can go to brooks.com for more reports.
The green is very pretty, I have it on my Fuji.
Saddles are, shall we say, a personal choice.
Lots of different shapes, and lots of different saddles.
The B17 is good if you keep the bars close to the level of
the saddle. Much lower, and you'll prob want a different one.

Brooks B-17 is definitely the way to go for touring. Break-in isn't as bad as you might think. A little hard on the sit bones for a few hundred miles, but that's all. If your other saddles have given you numbness down under, this Brooks will immediately solve that problem. Lots of luck finding one in stock unless you are willing to spring for the titanium version.

Although it weighs a ton, you can't beat a sprung Brooks on rough terrain. I love my Conquest and it's waaay better than any suspension seatposts.
B17 if you have the handlebars at near-to seat height. Team Pro if you have bars lower or spend a lot of time on the drops. The TEam Pro, despite the "Pre-Softened" emblazoned across it, takes a long time to break in, IME. The B17 seems to be thinner leather and easy to break in.
