I had never ridden over a speed bump in the street before that required me to slow down
until yesterday. Doing 27 mph (down hill) went over a posted bump and felt like I might
lose control for a second or two. I guess it was not good for the bike also. You never get too old to learn something new.

You definitely need to unweight and if you do it a fraction of a second too soon or too late, it can be a problem. Be careful!

Around here, most speedbumps consist of two pieces of bump on each side of the road making it possible for bikes to cross in the middle or at the sides without a problem.
Those who are in one piece and stretch over the entire width of the road mostly have sloping edges towards the sides and I allways try to hit them on that spot :)
