Anyone notice Floyd never seems to wear the same shoes? I have seen him in both models of the carbon soled shimano shoes, now I was just looking at some pics from the vuelta and it looks like he's wearing some sidi genius 4's. I would think once you found a good pair of shoes stick with them. Surely they all are a little bit different, meaning different seat heights, cleat placements etc would be needed. I guess if you are a pro and either get them for free or can afford them, why not have a bunch of pairs of shoes!

noticed that...something odd going on there. Why don't you e-mail the guys at cyclingnews.com and ask their Vuelta commentary team?

Looks like the Vuelta is not as well broadcasted as Tdf so personal sponsors not pressing their riders so hard, that's why they can wear what they like.

Most of the cases it's Sidi Genius 4 or Energy, sometimes the logo painted black or taped over as non grata logos at olympics.

I've ridden one pair Genius 2 for 10 years, still OK. I've changed it only to keep it in good shape naturally for an Energy.

Before Sidis I used to wear Diadora and Adidas, all went apart in 3 years. I LOVE Sidi shoes!
The only 1 bad remark: sole rigidity adjuster is only for optics? Look like they drive nothing just spinning in the air. But easily removable, sometimes with a missed hit on the pedal does the work. That was the way I lost one so removed the other.

I went ahead and wrote the cyclingnews team. I'm almost positive this isn't a sponsorship issue in any way, shape or form. My question is why would you switch shoes throughout the season. Seems at the professional level changes would be kept to a minimum, especially in things like shoes which can fit different ways, different heights, etc.

Maybe to be able to get money from several manufactures?

Cheers

Agree. Look what happened to hinault when the mechanics changed his seat hieght by 2mm during the Tour. A new shoe brand would have the same effect.
