I think the west slope should vote to keep its water and not send any to the front range. That would make it even IMO. lol

I suspect Black Hawk would quickly see the light if their highway funds were cut off unless they became bike friendly. This is a weapon so frequently used to help persuade radical legislators to toe the line. However this is a said story, it certainly says that there is enough angst in CO that they might start passing some stupid legislation.

One of the reasons I was looking forward to riding in Colorado was the 3 foot rule. Now that I have been on the roads there I see the problem was they passed a law without considering if there were 3 feet for cars to pass without crossing and double lines. People have passed me a bit closer than 3 feet but mostly they seem to be trying to give me room even if the road isn't designed for it. Driving into Mesa Verde I noticed the sign that bicycles are not reccommended. I figured it was because of the road work. That was one reason but the other was there are places on those roads where two cars passing at the same time almost seem to touch and there is absolutly no shoulder on some of the climbs and curves. Drivers on those roads might start complaining if they were stuck behind someone that climbs a slow as I do for a mire or two.
