2009 ridden twice - buy or no?

Genesis 2 geometry all that?

Weight?

How does it compare to Trek 4500/6500 or Specialized Rockhopper?

And yes it is my size

If honestly in like new condition, then buy first and ask questions later. At that price, the bike is a gift.

Wow yeah that's one hell of a deal. The Marlin is about $700 new. Also, Gary Fisher Bikes recently got downgraded to Gary Fisher Collection by TREK. In other words, years down the road your bike will be considered a collectible as one of the last models of the Gary Fisher Marlin ever produced. But on top of that, the Marlin is a good bike & it's a steal whether the company is being downgraded or not.

I have a Gary Fisher Marlin and that bike has been a pleasure to ride. so far over 700 miles no major problems. I changed the seat for a little better comfort.

Trek has owned Gary Fisher for a while. The Gary Fisher collection by Trek is likely the same collection of bikes that you would have gotten had they retained the name Gary Fisher. It was a move to make the bikes available to Trek dealers (so says Trek, anyway).

I'm not disappointed with the transition in brand name. It allows GF to produce the bikes he really wants to without having any overlap in Trek & GF models. What bothers me is that Trek likely didn't collapse GF Bikes for that reason, but because most Trek dealers refused to carry GF & as such the bikes remained a sort of underground cult-following brand. Trek wasn't making enough money on a company they owned & controlled, so they fully consumed it.
