Northern California - First ride up Hamilton

My trusty doubles partner LanceOldStrong and I let the comfort of Contra Costa and Mt. Diablo to venture into San Jose and try out Mt. Hamilton.

We enjoyed your little hill quite a bit. This ride was just the 20 up the front. It was a wonderful day and the ride wasn't tough at all. The ride down was a blast. Not too steep, and not very technical, with some very nice pavement near the bottom.

Next up: Perhaps a longer effort starting in Livermore and tackling the famed backside.

Could you see The Mountain from the top? The few times I've been up there it's been too foggy to see anything.

It was clear, but I didn't know you could see it from there or I'd have tried to find it.

So does that mean apply enough to fill a shot glass to each area of your body that is exposed to sun?
I guess it does to me.
I am Irish, note the green eyes in the pic, so I take no chances with the Sun. I may be misinterpreting the semantics of the oft quoted passage above, but sunscreen is cheaper than dermatologist visits. :D

Meanwhile, I've lived at the foot of it for nearly a year, and haven't made a successful (bicycle) run in that time. I lose, youse win!


It was clear, but I didn't know you could see it from there or I'd have tried to find it.I've seen Diablo from Sacramento once, and that's much further away than Hamilton. I'm pretty sure I've seen Diablo from atop Hamilton once or twice.

That's a lot of sunscreen for the under-helmet area. Don't you sweat it into your eyes?

Actually, of all the times I've been up Hamilton (probably up to 10 or 20), I've never taken that picture. However, I do like this one ...
