I was just wondering how many of you serious riders out there are still riding v-brakes or for that matter canti's. The reason I ask is i ran into some local bike snobs who were just appalled that I was still riding without disc brakes. Man bike snobery has no bounds!
why would I spend over $300 to put disc brakes on my 04 Trek 6700 which is a great bike when I am perfectly happy with my brakes. The bike is still great so I am not going to go out and spend another grand on a new 6700 just to get disc brakes.

This doesn't sound like a question so much as a way to vent.

^^ I think samburger gets the daily double for perceptiveness.

I can't imagine running into people and having them outright tell me they are appalled at my equipment choices. It has never happened to me, in any venue, sport, etc.

OP, perhaps you are a bit sensitive and a tad insecure about your gear and maybe, just maybe, you completely misunderstood what they were saying? Obviously I wasn't there so I don't know, but your take seems unlikely.
