i was out today test riding entry level bikes. I found a few that i liked but am not sure which one to purchase.

trek 7000 340.00
trek 7001 400.00
globe vienna 1 last years model 369.00
Raleigh detour 3.5 330.00
jamis citizen 1 390.00
schwinn sport terra 369.00

Any suggestions or comments?

Thanks

If you like the bikes equally, pick the one that comes from the store that you trust most.

If you want any other advice, then you need to say more about how you'll be using the bike.

They will all be of comparable quality, using many of the same parts, with the higher priced models probably having slightly better parts in a few places.

They will have slightly different geometries, so some may be more comfortable to you than others.

And you may like certain bike shops better than others.

I would go with the one that has the best combination of riding comfort plus your confidence in the bike shop. If you go Trek, then I would lean toward the 7100 over the 7000 due to better overall parts quality.

I'd rise the Jamis Citizen 1 and see if you like it. Jamis makes really good bikes.

I would pick the one that feels the best; best shifting, braking, handling, etc.

I would get the one more suited for off road riding, I do not have time to go through all the specs of them, but some are more for road riding . Smaller tires, no suspension, etc...you said you had a Road bike, and this would be used for off road mostly... Richard
