Clydesdales/Athenas (200+ lb / 91+ kg) - Too much weight on hands

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.
I've returned to riding after too much time. I need a saddle because the one I have is a medieval torture device. I can deal with that for a while while funds are secured for one. I built the bike with Soma Three Speed ('stache) bars. Hurt my hands. So I picked up a set of Nitto B-15 in 45CM. I run a Nitto Periscopa stem which allows me to run the bars just a tad above the seat. No relief. I notice when pushing hard climbing or accelerating it eases the burden on my hands. The seat is back a good bit and a little a toward the back from level. This has never been a problem before and is nothing riding my motorcycles which have a sporting position.
Is this something that will take time or ???? Any help?

Is your saddle level? Make sure it isn't forcing you forward onto the bars.

+1. An uncomfortable saddle will often trick people into adjusting it nose-down, which allows your weight to slide forward and causes massive pressure on the hands. If the saddle is uncomfortable when level, replace it with one that is better.

The OP says the saddle is "a little a toward the back from level" which I think means the nose is tipped up a bit. I did find that building up my abdominal muscles to help support my weight helped quite a bit with hand pain, but it took time. Nitto B15 handlebars don't sound familiar, do they give you multiple hand positions and do you switch positions while you are riding? What kind of bar wrap/grips are you using?

Sorry, I did read the post but apparently I missed or misread that part.

Also try rotatingthe bars and/or sliding the shifters on the bar closer to the rider. If you aren't racing, no sense in being in a race position.
Try placing the shifter at the purple line, this will also decrease the amount you lean forwared onto your hands.
Hmm, this pic looks familiar:p

Good old Sleeping Beauty!
The Nitto B-115 (sorry I missed a 1) is your basic set of drops. I tilted the seat back another click but serious t-storms kept me from riding tonight. I'm off tomorrow and will put some time in then. I'll post a photo of the bike then. Yeah my core strength is nil (never a strong point either) but we'll work on that.
Thanks everyone.
The bars.
