(12-30) 10:30 a.m. PST FREMONT -- A police officer escorting a teenager home from a traffic stop Thursday morning was attacked by a pack of Chihuahuas at the front door of the boy's home.

The officer suffered bite wounds to his ankles, was treated at Washington Hospital and returned to work within two hours, Fremont police Detective Bill Veteran said.

The incident happened at 3 a.m. at a home on the 200 block of Preston Court when the officer and his partner were returning home a 17-year-old boy they had detained at Butano Park and Tenor Court for driving without a license, Veteran said.

When the front door opened, the dogs rushed the officer, Veteran said.

I actually feel for the guy. Imagine having to write up this incident report for an on the job injury. :p

This morning I had the chance to squash a couple of the little sh its when they tried biting the tires off my car at 65 MPH but I resisted the temptation.

Imagine if one chihuahua was the size of an average dog... Everyone. Would. Die.

The funny part about the dogs distracts from the real story: Police catch someone driving without a license, and they give him a lift home? A 17 year old boy with "no license"? Just what does that mean, really? A suspended licensed is more likely. And at 3 am to boot. Most likely drunk and the car weaving, why else would the cops stop him to begin with? So instead of the obligatory tazing and beat down that would normally be a part of such stories, everything is hunky dory, no harm, no foul, plus a free ride home? I have to ask, just who is this kid's daddy? This is clearly a case special treatment and the dope writing the story is fixating on tiny dogs. Worst reporting of a story ever.

I agree. Would've been better if the article mentioned nothing about the chihuahuas until the very end...

"Oh, by the way, the office was mauled by chihuahuas."

In chihuahua defense I have known two chihuahuas that weren't completely useless. One was a little guy named Romeo. He was my friend's roommates dog and he was awesome. Never barked, loved everybody, and he would sit on my shoulder (because I put him there) when I sat on the couch. I'm pretty much positive the dog was so awesome because it was treated like a dog should be treated which is respectfully.. not like it's a frickin adorable accessory.

The other chihuahua was owned by an ex girlfriend's family. He was an idiot and pretty much as annoying and aggressive as all other chihuahuas but he liked me a lot so I guess he gets recognition here.

Bug eyed rats. I've never came across a mean one I just think they are annoying.

Chihuahuas are a riot. You may not like them, but if one bit you, it didn't care much for you either. We have two. Both docile well trained, socialized dogs.

Or getting treated at the hospital. There's no way in hell I'd agree to any kind of medical inspection or care

My girlfriend has a chihuahua-dachshund mix.... He looks like a chihuahua that's been stretched! Have to admit that he's a pretty cool dog for the most part... doesn't bark except VERY occasionally while playing with my lab mix.

We do call him the rat-dog, though. :D We also refer to him as 'snack-sized'... especially when we have the two out together.
