I have a mild temptation to use some 105s from the mid-90's, but geez - most dual pivots don't do it for me aesthetically. However: I just peeped the DA 7800's that have a beautiful flat on the top of the caliper arms. I want it. I shan't have it. Any other dual pivots out there that ring your bells (as non-C&V as they might be)?

I'm a big fan of the look of the Shimano 600 Tri Colour Dual Pivots. I'll see if I can find a good picture

Don't know if they are dual pivot or not, but I like the look and function of circa 1990 Campagnolo Athena calipers.

This is from the C'dale R800 I just sold. I am a big fan of each and every one of the tricolor 600 components. Just wasn't a fan of that bike...

I agree. It really is some great stuff. I have a mix of it and Dura Ace 7400 on my merlin. The funny thing is the Tri Colour crankset and calipers are significantly lighter than the DA stuff according to weightweinees

For a less expensive option: Shimano BR-R560 non-series dual pivots:

You can get them for like $37 shipped from Bikewagon for the pair (http://www.bikewagon.com/Shimano-BR-R560-Road/Brakes-Levers/Road-Brakes/Road-Caliper-Brake-Sets-p8863834.html), simple Shimano logo, silver, that's it. I bet they stop as good as DA with good pads. 105-level.
I like my RX100 calipers too:

I'm diggin' on the DAs. =0) can't beat dual pivots for performance. I have a set of Modolos that I have been tempted to use on my Maddy to help with the "vintage" look I was going for, but I'm sure they will not perform as well as the Tektro duallys that came on it originally.

This answer is obvious...Campagnolo always looks better. I think particular the "differential" brakesets of the early 2000s:

Of course, on these the rear is single pivot (which is really all you need for the rear) and there is no quick release (so no running bigger tires) but if looks is what you want then I think they are the obvious answer.

Those are nice looking DPs! What bothers me with the look of most dual pivots are their wide and almost centerpull-like front aspect. These you posted seem to avoid that look and actually look like the classic single pivot design with that ridge at the center of the fork crown. Also looks like it's narrower physically too (more aero?) because of the dropped shoulders on the caliper arms.

Mafac Racers............. by a country mile:-)
Here's an image I pulled off of google but I can't to seem to find anything better. I will get around to taking a picture of them mounted by tomorrow. This picture doesn't do them justice. I also don't mind the DA 7400 but they are a bit chunkier looking somehow

If you don't like the looks of dual pivot, go with later Campy since only the front half is dual...
