So back in college I had bought a used mountain bike, I don't remember the brand, and I sold it about a year ago because I didn't live anyplace I could use it (way out in the country, on top of a very steep hill). A few months later I moved back into town, and boy do I miss that bike! I really enjoyed riding with no hands; got to where I could go around corners and maneuver precisely.
The place where I'm living is pretty strung out with urban sprawl; I might be able to get to the post office or maybe a grocery store, but otherwise just want a bike again for the sheer pleasure of riding. I'm attached to the way a mountain bike feels even though I know it's not optimal for street efficiency. I also got into the habit of going on and off of curbs in college, consider that a vital urban skill, and I'm not sure a road bike should be used for that kind of thing.
