Low normal and rapid rise are the same thing. I believe you mean high-normal.

If in doubt, locate the RD cable where it is exposed (Probably underneath the top-tube), click the shifter into a middle gear, and (while pedalling) pull on the exposed cable.

Low-normal will shift into a HIGHER gear (smaller sprocket) when the cable is pulled, while a high normal will shift into a LOWER gear (Larger sprocket.)
