So I have an incredibly short, very flat commute and I ride in 6 days/week (school for 5, work for 5, they just don't overlap). Because it's so short, and so flat, I have had a really hard time forcing myself to go slow...ever.
That's the left hand. On the right hand, I started to learn to swim about 2 months ago, then took that second month completely off. I've returned to swimming to prepare for a tri Sept 12. Every morning that I swim after my commute, my legs get exhausted during my kick, I sink, I try again, I get tired, I quit.
My kick wasn't very good to begin with, though in the last 2 weeks (during which I have swam 5 days/week) it is probably 20 times better, but I feel worn out right at the hips/quads after just 2-4 minutes swimming.
Is my commute interfering with the swim practice and should I actually take time off the bike & running until I get the swimming under control? Or should I just sleep more? Or am I missing something? Help please!
