Doesn't look too different from the Allant but made out of steel. I am partial to the Bellville though, probably weighs 30lbs but would make for an alright commuter.

Stopped by my local Trek Store. Guy stated that he wasn't intending on stocking any of the new line, and wasn't too enthused about how he's being 'encouraged' to embrace the new Fisher collection, either...

I would consider European-made city bikes (Dutch bikes) to be more eco-friendly. They've got hub generators, enclosed drivetrains, and they're made, not just "assembled" in responsible factories. These Trek bikes are still made in China, and I would be surprised if they last as long as an Azor, for example. Of course, they're cheaper.

Yeah, it is a bit of 'green-washing' on Trek's part, I suppose. My main point of starting the thread was to let anyone who cared that the much vaunted FX frame geometry could now be had in steel, for those of us who prefer that material over aluminum.
