Hello - I am about to trade up from our Raleigh Coupe tandem to an older Co-Mo Cappuccino. I have come to love the disc brakes on our Raleigh though and would love to upgrade the fork to one that is for disc brakes. I am perfectly happy with an OEM used steel fork if I can find one, or a used carbon if the price is right. Does anyone have advice on changing forks or a line on a used fork for disc brakes that might be available?

Also, will soon be selling our Raleigh Coupe if anyone is interested. Upgraded to drop bars with Ultegra STI and Deore rear derailleur and 12-34 freewheel for PA hills.

Not sure what your budget is, but Co-Motion now builds an OEM steel disc fork that retails for about $375. Of course, you'll also need to rebuild your front wheel with a disc-compatible hub so you're getting into a few bucks with this proposed modification.

Frankly, my recommendation would be to spend some time riding the Cappuccino with the current brakes -- perhaps spending a few bucks to put fresh brake pads on -- and then re-evaluate what changes you'd like to make over the winter.

Unless you absolutely have to the disc set-up because that is all that will make you feel safe or happy, then I would also suggest that you optimise what you have now and ride them for a while and see what you think.
I know you have some real steep stuff there in Pittsburgh but with the lengths of them being reasonable, you might find that what you have, while having a different feel, will ctually get the job done quite well.
