While doing an internship with the local police department we were called to a location regarding an abandoned bike. The bike was in pretty good condition, but it could have been abandoned due to theft or lack of function. I was able to spin the wheels and change gears though. How much would a bike like this be worth? I ask because it will go up for auction next summer with a starting price of $5. I included the link for a youtube video that shows the same bike we recovered. Thank you all.

It really comes down to condition, and what it is worth to you. If it were as clean as the example in the youtube video and it was a good fit for me, I would certainly be interested. That being said, I assume any 32 year old bike is going to be a bit of a project, even if it has been hanging in someone's basement or garage for 20 years.

If I could get something like that for under $100 I would be thrilled. I would go as high as $200 if the bike was really clean, didn't need any work (and worn out parts had been recently replaced like brakes, tubes and tires recently replaced), and I trusted the seller's representation re: the condition of the bike.

The bike is definitely not as good as the one in the video. The handle bars are bent and there is a little bit of pitting in the chrome. I think if I can pick it up next year for $50 I may still buy it. Thank you for the reply.
