Road Cycling - Oh, My Wife's gonna hate me

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

But I could just say I'm trying to make her a stronger rider, or play dumb & say I thought they only made one size.
I helped her pick out a ladies saddle & Perl Izumi shorts. The next day went back, & my family had given me a 10 minute (in & out) bike store time limit, so I ran in told the guy that I needed a 7 spd cassette for a road bike; bought it & out I went.
Was so proud of myself getting it & the new chain on, with only minor der adj necesssary.
Just noticed last night it was a 12-21 cassette.

Ya, It's like an '87 that I upgraded to 105's (6 to 7 speed) a couple yrs ago. Had the LBS do a tune up & they said it needed new cassette & chain, & they would have to order it. I'd been wanting to start doing my own repairs, so I figured this was a good time.
I actually knew about the gearing, but was in such a hurry, it didn't enter my mind. I'll just tell her, "must be the combination of new seat & shorts; oh, the gears, just like a car, you've gotta break em in". :D

Cop to the screw-up, go back and see if you can get anything for it, then get something that goes 24-26. Ultimately, you're the one who's gonna pay if you don't fix this...unless of course, your plan is to get her not to like riding. Yeah, I'm starting to see what's going on here... ;)

I'm sure everyone that's married, prbly caught the jest of my post. We'd actually both prbly get a good laugh out of it.
Andddd.... I left out the part where she was "with" me the day before when we picked out the saddle. That day we spent about 2 hours in the store.

ROFLOL! Just this weekend the GF and I went to "just grab a few things" at the LBS...I think I have her trained now, because she plants herself at the customer/coffee table and reads whatever mags are available for the "ahem" 90 min "we" are in there.
Thanks for the funny post.
