We have over a thousand people every 20 minutes viewing the thread on how to break into your u-lock. http://www.bikeforums.net/showthread.php?t=66128
When I configured the server, I had the idea of 800 concurrent users max, peaking at 1000 users. Not 1500 concurrent users peaking at 2000!

This is big!
This is bigger than the bicycle smile thread.
This is almost as big as the terrorist hack!

Sorry. I got all P.T. Barnum for a minute there.
"This is colossal! Stupendous! Gargantuan, I tell ya! This is the biggest thing ever to hit these forums!...
"What? What's that you say, Joe? It's not that big?
"Oh. Okay. Never mind."

I find the site very slow in the past 2 days. I know it is not me, cause other sites load just fine.
It sometimes take more then a minute for a page to load..
My guess is it's due to all the outside attention being paid to the lock+ballpoint=unlocked story. :)
It's because of that kryptonite lock controversy- it's caused us to get an increased traffic beyond what Joe's server can handle. :( So we are going to have to put up with it until either the topic dies down or until Joe can figure out how to get another server going... because he doesn't have a lot of money to go into investing into extra servers. Frankly, I think he shouldn't get the new server. Why should he when strangers are logging in and not even clicking on the ads or making donations to the site?

Actually it hurts the boradband users more than it does dialup. Having said that the forum loads so slow it wouldn't even hurt your 56k. It kills us because we're used to the forum loading in like 0.001s, whereas dialup peeps get a max of 5.x kbps.

Any webmaster waits for the opportunity for increased promotion. I would die for an opportunity like this. Let Bikeforums bask in the glory...remember that it will die down eventually.

Sorry, About the bite me remark.
I should no better than post a message from work. Every time I arrive at work I get to see how little the employees have done. It gets under your skin after 6 years of busting your ***** for this company to try and make it work. :fight: I was all wound up at the time.
Sorry,

Just keep in mind how many people are not going to have their bike security compromised by knowing about the lock's flaw. It only takes a few stolen bikes to make up that $775. Plus I'm sure you can find a use for the server once it all dies down :D just like I ressurected a duron 700 as a LAN server at home....
