Hey folks! I thought I'd introduce myself. Although I haven't been on a bike for 17 years, I recently decided to make my 22-mile, round-trip commute two or three times per week.

I need to get some exercise, burn off some stress, and set a good example for my daughters and thought that getting back on a bike would satisfy all three of those.

I picked up a Novara Fusion from my local REI store yesterday because it had everything I needed out of the gate. I rode her home from the store, a 6 mile ride, and I rode another 6 today. I'm hoping to work up to my commute distance within a few weeks.

Looking forward to reading lots of good advice and meeting a few like-minded commuters.

Cheers,

Ride slow at first, like 500 miles. Speed will come later.
Practice fixing flats at home before you have some on your commute.

Thanks for the welcome 10 Wheels. I'll pop over to the Commuting Forum. And yes, I definitely need to practice fixing flats at home -- especially with that Alfine internal geared hub on the rear.
