A bicyclist has been rushed to the hospital in critical condition after an accident shut down a busy Sacramento intersection Monday afternoon.

A white sedan collided with the bicyclist near the intersection of Del Paso Boulevard and Arcade Boulevard, according to police.

The intersection is completely closed down while authorities investigate.

The driver is at the scene and is cooperating with authorities, police said.

Wow there was another collision this morning in Rancho Cordova, a 61 year old man died.

Yikes. I was a bit on edge riding yesterday morning. A lot of construction traffic around the airport where I ride. Was passed by some 18-wheelers.

Del Paso and Arcade is a weird area to be riding. Seems like he has a higher risk of being hit with gunfire than a car :\

Want to be even more depressed? Follow some of the stories and see what the consequences are for the killers. It is pretty rare to see any.

I tried to find updates, but the news didn't have any. Only thing they reported was that THREE cyclists were hit in like one or two days!

Yeah that was awkward when the 11 PM news led with that and my 40 wks pregnant wife was next to me on the couch :\

I just did that. It's really sad and terrible.

However, a majority of the accidents happened in the night. I'm talking about 9pm and later. I don't bike past 8, but If I did, even with lights and all, I think night riding triples the risk of being hit by a car, compared to daytime riding.
