I lost my father on Saturday. He'd gone into the hospital a week earlier, but he and I both expected a quick recovery and return home. Alas it don't work out that way.
I needed to get tired and both clear my head and remember my dad. I posted over on BF NorCal that I planned to ride up Mt. Diablo in his memory.
Many of my friends there posted supportive comments, and some even came out and rode with my wife and me.
People make fun of online friendships and say they aren't real. Those people are wrong. The support of people I've met on BF has really touched me.

My dad.
Very sorry to hear of your loss. The ride is a great tribute to your father. I see a lot of character in his eyes on that photo. I am sure he was a wonderful person who will be sorely missed. All the best to you and your family.

I started to write a bunch of stuff and it just fell apart on me and started to sound pretentious... I am really sorry for your loss.

My condolences, Curtis. Your ride sounds like a fitting tribute.
My dad is 98 and he's the other bike nut in the family. I think of him on every ride and am grateful.

Losing a parent is difficult, even more so when you have an expectation that they'll be getting better.... then something intervenes with the storyline and hands you a different ending. Went through that with my mom. My thoughts are with you you during this difficult time.
Curtis-very sorry to hear about your Dad leaving so quickly. Your Dad's spirit will be with you for a long, long time though.

God Bless you and your family.
Hello cccorlew,
I am very sorry to hear of your loss. As 50+'ers, our parents, if they are still with us, are definitely getting way up in years. I frequently think of my parents and their age and I keep dreading the thought of getting a phone call that something has happened.
I am glad that you and some of your cycling friends could pay tribute to your father's life by doing a peaceful ride.

Not much I can add to the rest of the comments- except a good way to remember your father.

CC,
So sorry for you. Marked a year my dad has been gone the first week of June. It has gotten better...
Be with friends & keep ridin'!
