I've noticed a few people buying rigid carbon fiber forks for thier mtbs, I was wondering what is the advantage (if any) over suspension forks. (other then weight reduction)
:D

You would get climbing with zero bob even out of the saddle. They also add a need for greater skill on the trails - no riding straight through problem patches. They should give a little more comfort to your wrists than a rigid aluminium fork.
Rich, has just bought a pair of Pace's I'm sure he'll be able to help.

Hi Vegas,
I decided to go back to rigid primarily for a change to front suspension, but as Rich D says, it eliminates bobbing when you're going uphill, forces you to add finess to your riding style...no more going over roots and rocks, and generally improves your riding skills.
As you said, there's also the weight factor...but being carbon fibre, it still takes off that trail buzz you get riding offroad, and more so than aluminium forks.
Hehe..ofcourse it looks pretty cool too, but thats just the cream :)
Cheers

I ride rigid, Chomoly though, and one of the advantages is zero-maintainance. If I frequently rode challenging trails I would be riding a suspension fork but the rigid is great for the riding I do. As mentioned things like rocks, roots and ledges become obstacles on a rigid bike instead of just something the suspension soaks up.
