I have a 1997 9 speed record group and would like to purchase a front derailleur, braze on.

I was wondering what I should buy as far as compatibility, and the difficulty of probably having a hard time finding an exact copy

would this be compatible?

I noticed on that website different sizes? 32mm, 35mm?

The item in the link will work fine. If the listing had sizes, they would be for clamp-on, not braze-on mounting. You will have to remove the small black plastic piece on the outer plate to use this on a 9 speed system.

I have a braze on 9/10s Centaur derailleur 2002 production, new in the box, I'll sell you for $45.00 including postage (in the USA), or if you want to preserve cosmetic integrity I have a Record of 2001 or 2002 but that would be $65.00 ($20.00 for the name only)

campy veloce 10 speeds are on ebay for $29 . its braze on so clamp size is irrelavent. and the front doesnt matter what the back is. it could be 6 or 11 in the rear. the front would be the same.
