Hi
Love the forum, and 1st time poster, 1st time builder here.
I'm riding in NYC and I'd like to build a 2 speed IGH for my Dahon S1 but I'm not sure about the choice of rim and spoke length.

Here's the parts I've researched... (much to the thanks of Sheldon Brown's incredible pages)
Sturmey-Archer B2C Kick-Shift Hub Kit 36h 116mm Black with Coaster Brake
Sun CR-18 20" 36h Rim Black
Stolen Parts 30mm 20" PVC Rim Strip
Wheelsmith 2.0 x 12mm Black Brass Nipples
Wheelsmith 14g Spokes 2.0x184

Can anyone help me with choosing a rim? (so many brands and profiles)
Thanks!
Chapito- DYI junkie

There are a number of spoke calculators on the web, you input a few measurements and they spit out the required spoke length. Just google "bicycle spoke calculator" and try a few of them. Sometimes the required measurements are available on the site that sold the parts, but if they aren't, they're not hard to measure yourself.

Hi Airburst
I had great success with Rinard's Spreadsheet. The hub I wanted to use wasn't there but the SA 3speed hub is the same measurements of the B2C so it was an easy calc. Great stuff! I cant wait to start lacing it up

The CR-18 is perfectly fine. The wheel is so small you can use a pile of garbage as a rim and the wheel will still hold.

CR 18 is low cost because the extrusion machines are paid for, by having sold millions of wheel rims using those dies.
