hello, iam thinking of buying a BMX bike for a bit of trail riding and mucking around, i have a good mountain bike but it isnt good for doing that kind of crap on. Any way i was wandering if anyone can give me someone could give me some advice on what i should be looking for on a BMX and what sort of bike would be a good all rounder because i like to do dirt jumps and i like to ride flatland. My budget is gonna be $400 Aus to $450, im almost 6 feet tall and weigh around 70 kg so if anyone would give me some advice on a particular model or brand that would be good

i'm six foot 2 weighing round your weight. i've just spent the day busting flatland and street, and dirt, and vert all on one bike that can take the strain beautifully while being light enough. it's the 2004 Mongoose Expert. it's rated in the dirt jumping sector, but it handles everything like a friggen champ. some riders will sneer, but Mongoose is good. for more and probably better advice, ask BMXTRIX. he knows his stuff. Although flatland and dirt jumping are a little different, you should be able to get by with one bike without any problems unless you really get into flatland and need a flat specific bike.

Here's the important stuff: For flatland, you'll need front and rear brakes and 4 pegs (big in diameter). And definitely find a bike with 3 piece cranks. Make sure your tires are fairly smooth, too. Don't get dirt specific tires because you won't be able to ride flat with them.

I saw DK and Nirve have some decent freestyle complete bikes for US $350-450. (Avoid anything from a deparment store.)
