Why is Comic Con such a big deal?
Why is Comic Con such a big deal?
Because it comes at the same week as opening day at the Del Mar racetrack so traffic is all f-ed up.

My daughter's fiancé is an actual comic book character. So I imagine it's a big deal to him.

I'll be there tomorrow. I get free tickets from work. It will be weird spending a lot of money on non-bike things.

Ahh, that is why I stayed away from San Diego County this weekend. Some of my friends have flown in from out of state to attend Comic Con and I have to understand the significance of it and why so many dress in costume.

I'm still pissed at what they did to TechTV. :p
Oh and I use an antenna nowadays.

+1. Many years ago, my roomie and I were in the audience on the TechTV late-night talk show (Unscrewed with Martin Sergeant) when they did the California Recall Election special. Hilarious... and a little frightening.

I'm into gaming, but G4 is just an awful network. Even their E3 and Comic Con coverage is dreck. The rest of the time, they just show marathons of Cheaters and Cops. Seriously, they do. I don't smoke weed anymore, so that's really not what I like to sit and watch.

Mos of what is on G4 is utter garbage. The only things I like watching on G4 are Kunoichi and Sasuke, but I hate hate hate the English announcer guy who always mispronounces everyone's name. He says Komiya Rie's name like RYE Komiya. What is she, some sort of bread? It makes me wanna throw stuff at the TV.
As for explaining the significance of Comicon...erm... it's a group of people sharing their interests all coming together with the industry, artists, voice actors, etc. It's fun to go to, sure, if that's your thing. If you're in costume, it's even more fun, because it's like Halloween but better.

someone got stabbed in the face at Comic-Com. Right?

+1 on the antenna.
I don't miss the dish, especially in summer. I still catch Leo's podcast (http://twit.tv/) now and then.

I try to watch G4 when I can. Ninja Warrior is awesome.
I'd like to go to Comic-Con someday but from what I've heard, the traffic and crowd is almost too much (even compared to Anime Expo).

Yup, someone did indeed get stabbed in the face over some dumb **** at Comic-Com. Sad.

Yes, I'm glad someone else thinks so!

Sounds like two geeks throwing hissy fits.
Police Officer David Stafford says the two men got into an argument over sitting too close to each other. He says one man was struck with a pen and hospitalized with a minor cut around his eyelid, the other was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

I love his podcast. The screensavers were the reason I had a dish.

Not this year. Didn't really feel up to it. I had a last minute idea to dress up as a Sandman from Logans Run, but it was too late to put anything together. If I go next year (if it's still in SD) I will for sure dress up. Probably in full steam punk garb, especially if my friends from England are visiting, though I'd really like to be able to put together an officers uniform from Macross.

This is true. I mean, I do have my problems with G4 but I feel that they do a good highlights on Comic-Con. I saw it last year as well. Olivia Munn is pretty hot, but can be a little weird at times. But yeah, about showing Cops and all, that should be something left for Spike TV and not G4.
Yeah, she was getting pissed off at some of the attendees there. It also seems like she didn't want to be there at all. You could tell that she really wanted to be elsewhere or maybe with her bf (if she has one, don't ask I don't have a clue) and things like that. But when they asked her since her show business career is taking off with movie parts, shows and her new spot on The Daily Show with Jon Stuart, she said G4 has been her home since the beginning (2005) and she has no intention on leaving Attack of the Show.

NO WAY!!! That's dope.
