Classic & Vintage - Austro-Daimler SL

I just acquired an A-D /SL. Unknown year. It appears to be all original even with a Brooks leather saddle. The bike has some wear and tear. It was rode regularly. I need the dough and am wondering how much it may be worth. And where to sell it. I've looked at the various experts websites. That is where I discovered it may be worth something to somebody. I am more of a MTB'er myself. Any comments at all would be appreciated. Thanks

Please post more details, including size, and pictures if possible. A usable Brooks Professional saddle is worth at least $30 on eBay.

OK, there is more interest in this bike than I thought (also on other forums and classic/vintage sites), so here goes.

Unknown year and couldn't find a SN (if they have them)
The bike is a light blue or grey/blue.
I assume 21" frame.
All Aluminum parts except for handlebar are stamped SR.
Handlebar stamped with SAKAE CUSTOM and ROAD CHAMPION
WEINMANN Brakes / calipers say WEINMANN 610 and below that VAINQUEUR 999
APEX crank etc. Lge sprocket has 52 teeth.
SHIMANO front and rear derailleurs front has a 60 on it rear has a 600 on it.
BROOKS saddle (I think original).

The bike wasn't abused, just used. I think the nieces and nephews of the owner rode it as a toy.

The only "bent" part is the front caliper cable holder attached to the headset area. Other than age and use, the bike is in good condition.

Shimano 600 derailleurs were pretty high end in their day (early-mid 1970s).

Through the mid 1970s, when sidepulls gradually took over, Weinmann centerpulls were standard equipment on bikes covering a wide price range -- everything from Schwinn Continentals to Schwinn Paramounts. (I still have the original set on my Capo.)

SR was a respected Japanese maker of a full line of components. There is nothing wrong with your handlebars.

Look for a S/N under the bottom bracket or at the top of the seat tube, either on the lug or just below it, in the tubing itself.

I just sold a A-D Inter 10 and it had 2(!) long serial numbers stamped in the BB shell. A-D seems unusual in that this one had almost all French gruppo (some very nice, too) but sourced Shimano dropouts and tips as well as some other Japanese bits...and this was back in '72, if my research is correct. I thought the SL stood for SuperLeight and that's their All-Campy top-o-the-line, surprised to see it with the Weinmann brakes etc. this SL may be a cheaper model...the Inter 10 and SuperLeight were all 531 and have the decals proudly displayed.
