I would like to aplogize to those who were offended by my post entitled" This woman should be off the road" I regret my words that I used in that thread and I apologize if I offended anyone. I will stick to posting about cycling related posts from now on. - Tim

I don't think an apology is necessary. You were obviously talking about the woman in the car next to you, not all women.
I don't think most of the women who replied to the original post read it correctly. Maybe they saw the word "woman" and went ballistic.

Agreed. I don't think you were out of line on your comments about that woman. The wording might not have been the best so people jumped all over it thinking it was an attack on a whole group. Just forget about it.
A good idea can be expressed extremely poorly. True to his name, Crazy Cyclist took an unquestionably true point (driving while distracted is dangerous to cyclists) and mucked it up with sexist garbage. His apology is appropriate. I assume the other forum readers will accept it.
I don't know what you're apologizing for. If some overly sensitive feminist gets their panties tied up in a knot, that's not your business.
I'm frank about things and I don't like to sugar coat if I don't need to. Political correctness be damned, that woman should be taken off the road, pronto.

It's people like you that made this person think they need to apologize. If you read what they wrote you would see that the comment was made about 1 single female, not the whole sex. So stop jumping to conclusions.
I, obviously read it wrong crazy cyclist, and for that, I apologize. I have a bad habit of trying to read to fast and tend to "skim over".
Be it a woman or a women they still can't drive. It might not be PC but its true.
Yes, and neither can men, if we have that to go by. I had three near misses today alone in less than 5 minutes, and all men in SUVs. I guess they either can't see in the dark, or perhaps it's one big generalization, feltup.
Koffee
Oh you can generalize men all you want. I have a sense of humor and self esteem so it doesn't bother me.
Cool. I was unsure.

Just because it's not PC doesn't make it true. Women have lower car insurance rates. Why? Because, as a group, women get into fewer accidents than men. Let's accept the apology and move on.

Hahaha! Nicely put.
And to other comments, I say: if the government itself does not have to be pollitically correct, why should I? As soon as my car insurance rates drop I will be a little more open minded about this equality crap and political correct garbage. People now a days are FAR too sensetive. (Like yesterday, at the hairdresser. Little boy comes up to his mommy cause 'the girls won't let me play with them and they are beating me up.' Mommy went and *****ed at the girls. Not even her children! That boy is gonna be a little thumb sucking, sensetive sissy when he grows up.) Lawyers suck. And stereotypes DO exist!
So do radical, nutjob right wing psychos.

How many women have you rode in a car with? Not many from the sound of it.

So women can't physically drive, then what the hell is going on here I see them out on the streets all the time and driving pretty well at that.

Oh so clever. Let me phrase my response so all members, even those with a poor understanding of the english language can digest. Women are poor drivers in my opinion. What words do you have trouble with now? Women or opinion.
see Crazy Cyclist it wasnt your post :) they just love to complain :)
it takes a big person to admint when they are wrong and even a bigger one to admint then they might have been wrong
Being a woman ( if there is really any difference between a woman and a man, well thats for another time) doesn't make you a bad driver I know plenty of women who drive well, it is confidence ( or lack of) that makes you a bad driver and this applies to both sex's.

You don't know if men and women are different? I rest my case.
I say we stop feeding the troll.
You don't know if men and women are different? I rest my case.
I see you have never learned about basic gender roles and social construction of gender identity. I'm talking mentally not physically.
I would like to apologize for laughing so hard, I hope I didn't keep anybody up.
And no, I was not offended by CrazyCyclists' posts.
Its always the troll that disagrees with you. If you notice I have been on these forums longer than you, I guess that makes you a troll.
Talk about panties in a bunch. Once again it is proved, jes because you ride a bike, don't mean you're cool. sigh.
If you notice I have been on these forums longer than you, I guess that makes you a troll.
Hmmmm, I didn't know that it was seniority that made you 'not a troll'
I actually thought it had more to do with attitude than age :D
confidential to lala - Just be glad you're not his wife...she's the one I feel sorry for in this situation... ;)

That's the SUV's fault, not the men's ;)

Oh I see :D
Yes I have attitude.
My wife will admit that woman can't drive. :p
My wife knows that women can't be better at everything.
Driving and riding are pretty much the only 2 things I have her beat in.
Do these faces really help get the point across? :o
I think I might be a troll for my excessive use of faces.
No need for an apology, IMHO. If you meet up with a distracted driver who needs to pull over and take care of whatever is distracting her, what's the problem in posting about your experience with this? Just b/c she happens to be female doesn't mean you were saying or implying that ALL women are bad/distracted drivers. I think alot of people read the posts too quickly, don't fully understand the author's point, and then respond to their incorrect interpretation. I repeat... No need for an apology.
"I see you have never learned about basic gender roles and social construction of gender identity. I'm talking mentally not physically."
Nurture hardly accounts for gender identity, this is a pet idea in psychology perpetuated by people not interested in data, and that have never had kids.
Here is what I think, women are hands down better at multitasking then men. Men are better at concentrating at one particular task. A man driving and concentrating only on driving is a better driver than a woman concentrating on multipule tasks. Hence women hit stationary objects, don't signal, drift into other lanes, in in general do dumb things on the road. Men drive to fast and beyond their ability which results in larger accidents creating more damage, but they are not caused by lack of concentration and they are not the majority of accidents.
Insurance rates for women have been going up for a while now, soon women will be equal there too, also of the 3 times I have been hit (all women, my car was stationary every time) the police and insurance were not involved, mainly because my car was not damaged (I drive trucks). The 1st time the woman's car was old, no big deal. The second time the woman just got here car back from the body shop from when she rearended someone the month before and she didn't want another claim, the 3rd no damage to either car.
One question, why is it perfectally ok for women to make critical blanket statments about men but if men criticize the driving of women in general its sexest?
This made its rounds at my workplace a couple of weeks ago and I thought I would share.....
This morning on the 401, I looked over to my left and there was a woman in a brand new Cadillac doing 140 kph with her face up next to her rear view mirror putting on her eyeliner.
I looked away for a couple seconds and when I looked back she was halfway over in my lane, still working on that makeup.
As a man, I don't scare easily but she scared me so much I dropped my electric shaver, which knocked
the donut out of my other hand.
In all the confusion of trying to straighten out the car using my knees against the steering wheel, it knocked my cell phone away from my ear which fell into the coffee between my legs, splashed and burned
Big Ed and the Twins, ruined the damn phone, soaked my trousers, and disconnected an important call.
Damn women drivers! :p
Now see, that's funny! I was reading this thread on my wireless phone on the drive home this evening and I started laughing so hard that I screwed up my eyeliner and almost ran some poor dude off the road! Boy was he pissed... ;D ;D ;D Hey wait...I was on 401 too!
:roflmao: :roflmao: :roflmao:
