I propose that the TdF institute a black jersey - the maillot noir - to signify the rider with the highest overall standing that is 35 or older at the start of Le Tour.

I was going to post this on Sunday, but five minutes after I thought it up Team RadioShack appeared in ... black jerseys. There's just too much to say about that to say anything. :twitchy:

Yikes ! the problem is those riders in the US use the rainbow as there color.... there not all world champions, and the maillot gris would be awesome, with a big Viagra logo.

Umm, black would absorb the sun's rays much more than any other color and I'm sure that the rider's are hot enough already.
I vote something like light green plaid.....

Not only that, but the extra weight of the absorbed photons would completely defeat the purpose of using ultralightweight, space age karbin fibre.

Jens proposed this in an interview a while back at Paris-Nice.

Ah yeah. I see he suggested 'maillot gris' also. I suggested black because that color is associated with the approach of death - although that is hardly universal; in the East it is white. So I concur with 'gris' - half white, half black.

Let's see. Lance Armstrong would have been the winner last year. Who this year (2010)?

how about a white and black bee-striped uniform for an ex-doper? ;)
