General Cycling Discussion - LL Bean bikes - Question

Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. I was just looking at LL Beans bikes and I was wondering if anyone here might know who makes them. I am also curious if they are any good / worth the money.
Here is a link to the one I was looking at.

Well, it's a very typical "fitness" bike as they are calling them these days. Shimano Altus rear DR, aluminum frame....I note that it does have a replaceable dropout on the rear.
Likely comes out of the same Chinese factories that make these bikes for other "name" brands.
I would hazard that you might find a very similar bike for a bit less money at your LBS if you shop around.
They USED to be Cannondales, but that's been a few years.
For $499 you can get a nice bike at your local bike shop (LBS). They can set up the bike for proper fit and if you want/need service they can take care of everything for you. If you buy from LLB who will do any repairs or warranty service?
There are plenty of good bike shops in the Boston area. Support your LBS.

little kids in asia make them.
Dunno who MAKES 'em, but LLB makes a killing ON 'em -- there's not $500 worth of bike anywhere in that link. $350, tops.
(That's based on 10 years of cramming bike stuff between my ears -- had a QR fall out of my ear yesterday..........)

It looks like a Schwinn. That makes Pacific the most likely company that offers it to LLB. Then again Giant makes some of the bikes for Pacific.

I must admit that, while I love LL Bean's clothing, I would much rather buy a bike from an LBS and support them---and get a better bike for the same amount of money---not only that, but the establishment of a rapport between a person and the LBS will help down the road with service, as well.

I think you should buy the bike because nothing says "quality" like a cross-branded bicycle.

That doesn't mean they make them for Pacific as carefully/cleanly as they do for themselves.
For $500, he might be able to get a Giant with better components from people who know more about bikes.

(OT) Of course little kids in Asia make them. By the time they've grown up and are old enough to ask for higher wages, they get fired and replaced with more kids. Ain't unbridled capitalism great?

They're prolly lower-end Schwinns. The LL Bean in Tysons Corner has an actual bike shop. I've bs'd with them a couple times and they seem to have their act together.

I see your point. I think I'll move forward with my original plan of customizing a Fuji America that I recently purchased.
