I've been working part time putting my 72 U-08 back together for my brother in law. I ditched the plastic simplex d/r which were disintegrating and replaced w/ Shimano Acera. The OG mafac levers w/ half hoods worked ok but, the half hoods were falling apart and so were the little brass "nipples" that the cable housings sat in. The levers were replaced w/ Dia Compe aero levers which work fine. The issue I'm having is with the cable housing where it goes through the "stops" on the frame. There is no cup like on a standard bike frame for the housing to go into, it's just flat. The brass cable ends have vanished:mad::innocent: and I'm stuck trying to get this together w/ little success. I drilled out a housing end so that the housing core sticks out which works fine until you pull the lever and then the core slides out of the housing.... The only solution I can see is just to run full length housing back to the rear cable stop (centers the cable for the center pull brakes and bolts to the seat post clamp) which has a cup for the housing. Thoughts or suggestions?
