Sorry for the noobish question but I just a set of Alex R450 wheels from the LBS for cheap and I'm not really sure what size tires they take. They only numbers on the rim are 622x14. I'm guessing its a 700 tire but not sure about the second number. I had some 700x 25 and those definitely didn't fit they seemed way wide and a little bit to big around.

Not all tires require levers to mount them. Even so, maybe the tire is actually a 27" size and not 700C. Either that, or the LBS sold you something in a 650.

:)ensen.
622 = 700c. The rims are clearly labeled 622x14?
Were you able to inflate the 700x25 tires?

A 622 rim is definitely a 700c, like JanMM says. The "14" must be the internal width, which according to Sheldon Brown's conservative chart should take up to a 25mm wide tire - but I bet you could go 28 and even 32mm wide as long as the frame allowed it.

Hmm I'll have to try the 700x25c tires I have again but it didn't look like they would fit. The tire just looked like that it would not fit tight to the rim, i've never had to put a tire on with out there being tension. I'll let you guys know what happens
