gios torino super record. mostly original parts, except for brakes, seat post, and pedals.

i just took it for a little spin and...wow. maybe i'm just excited but this thing FLIES.
the ride got a little less awesome when i noticed a noise coming from the front wheel. they are tubular rims, which i have never ridden before, and it seems like something is off with the glue, particularly on the left side, as when i turn right the noise disappears. does this sound like a legit diagnosis? is there a quick fix, like slapping some glue on the left side??

Wow! Nice bike. Yep, that bike should fly.

I dont know what would make that noise on the tire. Your best bet may be to take the tires off and reglue them. I'd be a bit cautious on tires someone else has glued. Or take it to someone who is knowledgeable and have them glue them.

Beautiful bike. As BC suggested, I'd pull the tire off and re-glue it. You really don't want to roll a tire off the rim, esp. the front. Make sure the base tape is thoroughly stuck to the casing before you mount the tire.

btw your front wheel seems to be on backward. The q/r lever should be on the rider's left. Not that it will actually make
a difference.

I doubt the noise is something with the glue. A tire will stay on a rim pretty well and silently with no glue at all. I think the whole tire roll thing is overblown. Redo it if it makes you feel better, but I doubt that's it.

What about the hub bearings? Are they allowing any lateral movement of the rim? Maybe they are and when you turn one way it rubs the brake pad but not the other way?

could it also be loose spokes rubbing? the wheel looks really true, but could that be the issue? i'm kind of scared the the whole tubular rim thing, to be honest!

It could be spokes, but if you had them loose enough to make noise, it would likely be way out of true as well. Have the LBS check the tension for you, maybe they have someone knowledgeable enough to deal with tubulars? :) Great score, it looks like a beauty!

In my mind, that's one of the finest bikes of all. I'm familiar with it.

when i took the gios out for the first spin yesterday i stopped at an LBS to get a couple lights and one of the mechanics (the legit one, not one of the hipsters) not only checked it out but came over across the shop to take a nice long look.

having ridden it a bit more i feel like the noise is probably coming from the hub and not from the tire. i'll get it re-packed and gliding silently asap.

Bike appears nice, but I would lower the stem, if that is a Cinelli it should be down at least a cm if not 15 mm more.

Flip the front wheel around for one, just to see if you can isolate the noise. Check the spoke tension as stated, true does not mean equilly tensioned.

I would not trust a glue job I did not do.
