Superbe and Campy parts in good condition would seal the deal at $100 for me.
They wouldn't hang those parts on a totally crap frame either.

Is that what they're calling it these days? Only 90 seconds huh? :innocent: Then again, that's probably about 90 times more work than the server took to put it on your screen!

Nice score
Major deal for $100. I spy C-Record crankset!
I have one of those frames in my basement that I purchased on sale in the 80s. My frame has chromed rear triangle and painted fork, but I was told that the fork was painted red over the chrome. It is my understanding that Performance had a racing team and they commissioned both Basso and Pinarello to build there bikes.

Hm... I wouldn't mind having one of those frames, 'specially if it has eyelets at the dropouts.

The Performance frame I had was built by BMZ just like Palo Alto's It was the most beautiful frame set I have ever had, unfortunately it was not my size. Sigh. full Columbus SL

Here is my Campione, recently build up with a combo of shimano 600, 105, and rx100. It's a really smooth ride, much less road vibration than my Schwinn 434 aluminum.

Very cool bike! I have seen some of the Performance/Nashbar bikes before, and they never seemed too high-end. That frame is beautiful.
There's also something really cool about the fact that the owner of Performance still rides his. I'm sure that guy has made some $$$ over the years, and it says something that he's riding something other than the most expensive new thing out there.

More info on the Campione - found this reference to Biemmezeta on the Performance site today:

Wow, those catalogs bring me back! In high school I used to stare at those catalogs and dream.
They provide so much more info than the Performance / Nashbar catalogs of today! Now it is little more than a picture to refer you to their website.

No eyelets on the Campione, but braze-ons for just about everything, including a chain hanger and 2 water bottle cages. You'd have to find a very rare Blue Ridge, which was the touring version, in order to get eyelets.
The Performance Campione was my dream bike, and I've been riding the dream for 25 years now. :speedy:

BMZ (Biemmezeta) made a lot of the Performance-branded framesets, I think. Very good contract builder in Italy....

So my grey touring (BMZ-built) one was called a Blue Ridge? I scored mine on eBarf as a complete bike.

Slightly shallower angles and longer wheelbase than the Campione, as you'd expect on a touring frame. Dimensions are listed in the post that has a picture of the catalog page. Rare, because relatively few people take the time to build a touring bike up from a frame, as opposed to those willing to do it for a road racer.

Thanks. I went back and looked at that catalog scan for more details. Mine is an Anthracite Gray 60 cm. I then found my old Palo Alto catalog from 1985, and the Touring frameset in gray was on sale for $265. Imagine how little Biemmezeta got paid for one....
Still looks pretty good after 25 years.

Very nice! Command shifters too!
Very nice! Command shifters too!
That was the last component change I made and that was about 20 years ago. Other changes from the original bike included an AccuShift rear derailleur (they didn't exist when I first built the bike), a couple of different saddles (my cat slashed up one of them), ergonomic handlebars, and aero brake levers. At the time of purchase, I upgraded from the included Campy Record headset to a Super Record. You can't really see it in any of these pics, but I had my initials engraved on the side of the Cinelli handle bar stem.
