I have a 1972 Motobecane Jubile Sport. I'm considering trekking bars for it. Are there any special considerations I should be aware of? What diameter of bar will be correct.

Another question if you please, are the pedals standard thread or something special. I'd like to put some SPD's on it if possible.

Thanks in advance for any help you may be able to give.

1972 French bike is very likely to have french threaded pedals, unless the crank is not original. People commonly get their crank arms rethread so they can use regular pedals. If you still have the original pedals, depending on condition, they will have some value.

They're still on it and appear to be in good condition. Still have the clips and straps. I assume most any decent bike shop can rethread the crank arms?

Measure the interior clamp of the stem in order to know the handlebar size for your bike.

Or, get whatever bars you want and a new stem to accompany them.

If you get an ISO stem for an old French bike, you may have to enlarge the head set locknut opening. as well as use ISO sized bars.

Either enlarge the headset locknut with a dremel tool, or just sand down the stem - it's only 0.2mm too big in diameter (22.2 vs, the French 22.0 standard).
