Have been looking at making transition to cycle shoes/pedals but not sure what conversion tables to use. In US sizes, I generally have to go with New Balance due the availability of WIDE sizes. Any time I've tried Nike, Puma, Rebok etc, they've been much too narrow. Haven't seen any of the postings here or there for WIDE cycle shoes, or whether they are Continental or European sizes. Any suggestions most welcomed....I am not adverse to purchasing a 'broken-in' pair the 1st time around. My size in NB is 10 EE.

Sidi sells a 'Mega'--which is wider than regular. Not sure whether they would be wide enough for you. Every shoe manufacturer seems to have their own sizing scheme, and they convert differently to US sizes. I think Lake has wide sizes too.

Most good cycling shoes seem to come in european sizes. I wear an 8 1/2 to 9 in a Nike, Puma or Bass. I wear a 42.5 or a 43 in a Shimano or Specialized. My foot is only slightly wider than what they normally make so that is one reason I tend to take the 43 in Shimano. You would be looking at a 45-46 I think. And ask at the LBS if you need a wide. However if you have the money several companies make a shoe that molds to your foot using a little heat.

I wear something between a 10.5 and 11 EEE New Balance. Most regular cycling shoes are too narrow for me. I wear Sidi Genius 5 Mega (for wide feet), size 45. They fit great.

Most bike shoes are sold in European sizes.

Here are two size charts that may help you -- Nashbar and Sidi

I wear Shimano European size 43. My standard European size is 42. The American size is 9.
