Bicycle Mechanics - noise in fork
Bikeforums.net is a forum about nothing but bikes. Our community can help you find information about hard-to-find and localized information like bicycle tours, specialties like where in your area to have your recumbent bike serviced, or what are the best bicycle tires and seats for the activities you use your bike for.

Went for a little ride with my kids and their cousins and noticed a creaking sound from my fork when out of the saddle putting pressure on the fork. This is the first time I've ever heard this. Any thoughts? The fork is Marz. 888 rcv if that helps.

Overhaul fork and re lubricate the suspension parts

Why do you think it's from the fork rather than the headset or handlebar clamps? I'd check the latter out by cleaning and lubing as necessary before servicing the fork (make sure the axle retention bolts/qr is tight and lubed, too).
Bikinfool raises an important point.
Tracking down the correct cause of the various clicks, creaks and grunts bikes make is amazingly difficulty even for experienced mechanics. Who hasn't put a ton of work oiling or field stripping one area, only to finally discover the cause is something totally unrelated.
Take some extra time to pin down the origin as best you can, then start by eliminating the easiest possibilities first, before going to something more complex, or expensive.

Thanks. I went thru and double checked to make sure everything was tight on the fork and all the way up to the bars. I put new risers on there bout a month ago, but everything is still tight.
