It appears that cycling has a long history of doping. According to this Wikipedia article doping and cycling goes back to the 19th century.

Technically, I'm not sure you can call it doping before there were rules against "doping". I mean, at that time you could buy heroin and cocaine legally at the pharmacy over the counter, so what's a little alcohol (or amphetamine) in comparison?

I wonder what the Lance supporters think about all those other dopers? Do they think that they are also innocent? I can't wait until he confesses. What will happen to all of those people who defended him on these forums all those years?

I don't know, it seems to me like this investigation into the most tested athlete ever who maybe should catch a break for helping so many people is just a witch-hunt wasting tax-payer money that's only motivated by jealously, promotion of book sales, and to drag the sport down.

Hmmm. You're from Austin and you don't like Lance? Is there a backstory to this? (I'm not being sarcastic - I'm just curious and would really like to know.)

There is no way that after all of Lance's tour victories that he was able to cheat every single test, because the moment he failed one he would have been disqualified and probably not invited back to the tour the next year.

If LA was ahead of the game all the time there is no way he was going to get caught when he won, and if his doctor was better than the other guy's then you have another factor. I doubt they will find the truth ever and just like alcapone, he might get punish for a another thing, not for the drug use. Probably i was right time ago when i mentioned that he retired only to clean himself (in every aspect.)

Regarding doping you have low profile guys and abusers, the abusers always get caught. I remember in the panams 87 or something like that, a brazilian cyclist heard that injecting himself hormones he was going to get stronger and stuff, and that it was undetectable. So guess what, the moron went and got estrogen!!!, guess now the PAIN symptoms he started to feel 1 day before the Gran Fondo race.

Well and then there is the case of ME the other day. I was out riding at night with a buddy, we stopped at a local bar and had a couple beers. I went outside while he visited the boys room. From my pannier I pulled a flask of fine bourbon and had a few nips, then tucked it out of sight. He wondered why he couldn't keep up the whole way back.
